accidents. To overcome this issue, Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) has come up with lot of novel ideas such as vehicular communication, navigation and traffic controlling. In this study, the main focus is on congestion control at the intersections which result from unclear ahead. For this purpose, a city lane and intersection model has been proposed to manage vehicle mobility. It shows the actual vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to traffic infrastructure communication. The experiment was conducted using Network Simulator 2 (NS 2). The implementation required modelling the road side unit, traffic control unit, and on-board unit along the roadside. In the simulation, including traffic volume, the distance between two signals, end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio, throughput and packet lost were taken into consideration. These parameters ensure efficient communication between the traffic signals. This results in improved congestion control and road safety, since the vehicles will be signalled not to enter the junction box and information about other vehicles.

Dynamical Topology Analysis of VANET Based on Complex Networks Theory

A Vehicular Ad hoc NETwork (VANET) is a special subset of multi-hop Mobile Ad hoc Networks, in which the vehicles wireless interfaces can communicate with each other, as well as with fixed equipments alongside city roads or highways. Vehicular mobility dynamic characteristics, including high speed, predictable, restricted mobility pattern significantly affect the performance of routing protocol...

Performance comparison of AODV and DYMO Routing Protocols, for Congestion Detection in VANET

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANET) is a subclass of Mobile ad hoc networks which provides a distinguished approach for Intelligent Transport System (ITS). VANET’s provide communication between vehicles moving on the roads. Congestion detection and control in VANET is very essential and necessary for smart ITS in order to avert an accident. Special considerations are required to develop more soph...

Effective Road Model for Congestion Control in VANETs

Congestion on the roads is a key problem to deal with, which wastes valuable time.. Due to high mobility rate and relative speed link failure occur very often. VANET is used to tackle the problem of congestion, and make decisions well in advance to avoid traffic congestion. In this paper we proposed a solution to detect and control the traffic congestion by using of both (V2V) and (V2I), as a r...

A Novel Adaptive Time Gap Based Congestion Control for Vehicular Ad Hoc Network

Despite the growing rates of vehicles on the roads and transported goods, transportation and traffic should become safer, cleaner and more efficient. Thus to ensure reliable and safe communication architecture within VANET, we propose in this context a cooperative and fully distributed congestion control approach, dedicated to operate within vehicular networks, integrated within the 802.11p und...
